Sunday, June 8, Open House - LHS Memories Day

Mrs. Lyburn, LHS Principal will host all alumni from 1 - 5 p.m.  One last chance to walk the halls of Linganore.  Bring your camera.  At 2 o'clock in the auditorium, Mrs. Lyburn will share plans for the new building on Old Annapolis Road.

Currently the Alumni Association has for sale a cotton woven blanket featuring an outline of the LHS front with symbols depicting sports/activities .  Only a few remain and the cost is $45.  Also we have alumni golf shirts at $25.00 and the Cat's Meow school at $17.00 (new inventory since we sold out in December).

Names are added to our mailing list upon request. Attending this year's dinner dance will place you on our active alumni listing. Are you planning a 5-year reunion? Let us know about your plans.

HISTORY

Founded in 1992 and incorporated May 20,1993, the Linganore High School (LHS) Alumni Association, Inc. is designed to refresh high school friendships and to support Linganore High School. Anyone who has been a student or staff member of LHS is eligible for membership. Alumni meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of each month (except December) at 7:30 p.m. in the LHS conference room. Anyone eligible to join the Alumni Association is invited to attend these meeting to participate and contribute new ideas. The first President of our organization was Karen Dotterer White '70, who was instrumental in the 30th anniversary celebration of the dedication of Linganore High, held at LHS in December 1992.

Since our quiet beginning, a small group of dedicated alumni have carried on our annual dinner dance in the fall, an alumni basketball game in the spring, the senior breakfast in late May, two newsletters a year, and established a Scholarship Fund with the Community Foundation of Frederick County.

In 2003, we partnered with the school to establish the Distinguished Graduate Organization. The sixth  Distinguished Graduate Awards were presented November 20 to Danette Ifert Johnson '86, Lisa Raines '83, Susan Gorsuch '69, James Bass '82, Lindsay Parlaman Contoveros '94, and Barbara Wyatt '67.  Nominations are now being accepted by April 1, 2008 for the 2008 Awards .
