Course Description

The Mentor/Internship program is designed to give high school students the chance to explore career opportunities that they may be thinking of studying in a post-secondary setting. Participating students are placed for one or two semesters with adult mentors to explore the responsibilities, benefits, advantages, and disadvantages of a career choice. Each mentor is primarily responsible for the daily tasks and/or learning activities of the intern. A mentor/internship facilitator in each high school serves as a conduit between the school and internship site. A project approved by the mentor and internship facilitator is completed during the internship and requires the demonstration of both oral and written communication skills.
