Course Description
|
Students enrolling in Class Piano 01 will learn and practice basic piano
techniques and music reading skills in group lab settings as well as
individualized study. A variety of piano literature, written at appropriate
performance grade level, will be practiced, rehearsed, and performed. In
addition to performing, students will develop the ability to understand,
appreciate, perceive, create, and respond to music through balanced instruction
that includes studying works from historical, aesthetic, and critical
perspectives. For Class Piano 01, prior piano experience - while helpful - is
not required.
Students enrolling in Class Piano 02 through 08 must have prior
piano background. They will continue to develop and refine their solo and
ensemble playing ability and extend their knowledge of necessary technical
skills.
All Class Piano courses are limited in enrollment based upon the number
of pianos available as well as the applied, individualized nature of the
curriculum.
Prerequisites:
For students enrolling in Class Piano 02 - 08 :
successful completion of the previous Class Piano course and prior permission of
the instructor
