American Popular Music (431120)

Course Description

Students enrolling in this course will study the history and development of American music in a number of specific areas: folk music, jazz, musicals, country western music, rock and roll, and light classics. Students will develop the ability to understand, appreciate, perceive, and respond to music through balanced instruction that includes listening to and analyzing representative musical examples from historical, aesthetic, and critical perspectives.
